Men's Soccer Falls 3-0 at Endicott College in CCC Action

BEVERLY, Mass. – BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's soccer team bested the visiting Curry College Colonels, 3-0, Saturday night to begin Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play at Hempstead Stadium on Senior Night as the Gulls extended their unbeaten streak to five matches.

Junior back Brendan McLaughlin (Colchester, Conn.) got a great ball from freshman forward Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio) and beat a Curry defender one on one to launch his first goal of the season into the lower left corner of the net past the Colonels' senior goalkeeper Dan Johnson (Easton, Conn.) in the 20th minute.

Junior forward Diego Maillo (Plantation, Fla.) put the Gulls up 2-0 at the half on an open net shot in the 38th minute as junior back Ryan Cohane (Easton, Conn.) picked up his first career assist.

Junior forward Dario Neukom (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) recorded his first career goal in the 52nd minute on an assist from freshman midfielder Xavier Polanco (Salem, Mass.).

The Gulls honored five seniors: goalkeeper Nick Weinstein (Trumbull, Conn.), back Jonathan DeJesus (Bridgeport, Conn.), midfielder Paul Erne(San Diego, Calif.), forward Brion Likaj (Salem, Mass.), and back Shay Neary (Trumbull, Conn.).


Weinstein registered four saves in the match to secure his third clean sheet of the season (16th career) as he improved to 4-1-1 on the season and 1-0-0 in conference play.

E. Couchot and Polanco each registered their first career assists.

E. Couchot currently leads the Gulls with seven points on the season.

Maillo has scored in back-to-back matches for the first time in his Endicott career.


Johnson (1-4-1, 0-1-1 CCC) made eight saves in the defeat.


The match started a half hour late due to the women's match this afternoon beginning late.

The Gulls bested Curry, 2-0, in the most recent meeting before tonight in the 2015 CCC Quarterfinals on 10/31/15.

Tonight's match was a homecoming of sorts for Curry head coach Peter Mendel, a 2005 graduate of Endicott and three-year member of the soccer program from 2002-2004.

Curry's goalkeeper, Dan Johnson, was a Joel Barlow High School teammate of Endicott's Ryan Cohane.


Endicott (4-1-1, 1-0-0 CCC) hosts Trinity (Conn.) in non-conference action on Monday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m.  Curry (2-4-1, 0-1-1) welcomes Maine Maritime to its campus on Sunday, September 18 at 1:00 p.m. a in non-conference contest. (Game Recap Courtesy of Endicott Sports Information)
