MILTON, Mass. – Curry College senior guard Kylie Beltz (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) has been named to the 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District Women's Basketball Team for District 1, which includes colleges and universities in all six New England states as well as New York. The 2014-15 Capital One Academic All-District Women's Basketball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
Beltz is a two-year team captain and four-year starter for the Colonels. She has led Curry in scoring in each of her four seasons, and currently ranks second on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,334 career points. This season in 20 games started, she leads her team and ranks fifth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) with a 14.4 points per game average.
Among her basketball accolades are three Team MVP awards and the 2012 Team Rookie of the Year Award. Beltz was a Second Team All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) honoree in 2014, and an All-CCC Honorable Mention selection in 2013.
Beltz is a nursing major who currently maintains a 3.73 grade-point average. She has been named to the CCC All-Academic Team twice to date, is a member of the Alexander Graham Bell Honor Society, and has made the Dean's List in each of her seven semesters.She is also the women's basketball team representative on Curry's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and a member of the school's Student Nurses Association.
During the summer of 2014, Beltz led a series of community service trips for 14-16 year old campers at Camp Foley in Pine River, Minn.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
