Malden, MA — Curry College baseball rallied late but ultimately fell to Lasell, 10–5, on Thursday afternoon at Kezer Field.
After being held scoreless through the first six innings, Curry broke through in the seventh when Brandon Mantilla-Mercado delivered an RBI double to put the Colonels on the board. Lasell, however, responded with a big seventh inning to extend its lead and maintained control heading into the final frame.
Curry showed fight in the ninth, plating four runs to cut into the deficit. Jorge Rodriguez highlighted the rally with a three-run home run, while Danny Leyva, who finished with three hits, also crossed the plate in the inning.
Mantilla-Mercado added three hits and an RBI, and Anthony Figueroa reached base four times and scored twice to lead the offensive effort.
On the mound, Curry starter Reegan Thomas kept things close early, allowing just one earned run over four innings, but Lasell capitalized on key opportunities in the middle innings to pull away.
