Colonels Falter at Home vs Gordon
Milton, MA - The Curry College baseball team fell to Gordon, 18-3, on Thursday afternoon at Jack Vallely Diamond.
Curry (6-11, 4-3) struck first in the second inning, taking a 1-0 lead when Joey Kazlauskas drove in Blake Fuller with a groundout. The lead held until the fourth inning, when Gordon (8-16, 2-5) erupted for nine runs to take control of the game.
The Fighting Scots used a combination of timely hitting and extra-base power in the fourth, highlighted by a grand slam from Gabe Fales, to build a 9-1 advantage. Curry answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning, as Kazlauskas delivered an RBI single to make it 9-2.
Gordon continued to add on in the fifth and sixth innings, plating eight more runs to extend the lead to 17-2. Curry pushed across its final run in the sixth inning on an RBI single from Bryce Adamski, but was unable to generate further offense down the stretch.
Anthony Figueroa led the Colonels offensively, going 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored, while Kazlauskas drove in two runs. Brandon Mantilla-Mercado also recorded a double as part of Curry's seven-hit effort.
On the mound, Jack Keane took the loss after allowing seven runs over 3.2 innings. Reegan Thomas, Sean Higgins, and Dan MacLean combined in relief as Curry worked through the remainder of the game.
Gordon totaled 15 hits in the contest, with Fales leading the way with five RBIs.
