Late Rally Falls Short as Curry Drops Extra-Inning Battle to Albertus Magnus, 10-9
Milton, MA - The Curry College baseball team rallied but ultimately fell in a back-and-forth extra-inning contest, dropping a 10-9 decision to Albertus Magnus on Wednesday afternoon at Jack Vallely Diamond.
Curry struck first in the opening inning, as Aaron Siegal delivered a two-run double to right center, scoring Anthony Figueroa and Michael Frausto for an early 2-0 lead. Albertus Magnus responded in the third inning, using a three-run double from Noah Grosso to take a 3-2 advantage, and then added one more in the fourth on an RBI double from Anthony Abate.
The Colonels pulled even in the bottom of the inning. Devin Grove's RBI double scored Cooper Salter before Frausto tied the game on an RBI sacrifice fly to make it 4-4. However, Albertus Magnus surged ahead with a four-run fifth inning and added another run in the sixth to build a 9-4 cushion.
Curry began to chip away in the seventh inning, scoring three times. Grove drove in a run with a single before bases-loaded situations led to RBI's from Bryce Adamski and Nick Krise, cutting the deficit to 9-7.
The Colonels completed their comeback in the eighth inning, tying the game behind Grove once again. The right fielder came through with a clutch two-run single, finishing the day with four hits and four RBI to lead Curry's offense.
Albertus Magnus provided the eventual game-winner in the top of the 10th, as Brayden Hastings delivered an RBI single.
Curry threatened in the bottom half of the inning but was unable to push across the equalizer, as Albertus Magnus closed out the victory.
Grove paced the Colonels with a 4-for-5 performance and four RBI, while Siegal added two hits and two RBI. Figueroa and Frausto each recorded multi-hit games, with Frausto also driving in a run and scoring once.
On the mound, Curry utilized four pitchers, with Henry Marino taking the loss in relief.
