DUDLEY, Mass. - Curry College defeated Nichols College 47-41 in a Conference of New England football game Saturday afternoon at Venditti Field.

With the win, the Colonels improve to an overall record of 4-5 and a conference record of 2-2.

Montie Quinn (Goose Creek, S.C.) had a historic performance, rushing 27 times for 381 yards, shattering Raphael Zammit's previous Curry College single-game rushing record of 319 yards, also versus Nichols in 2003. Quinn managed to find the endzone on four different occasions, coming within one score of Michael Waithe's single-game record of five touchdowns in a 1987 contest against Western New England. The Curry offense combined for a total of 637 yards, just 28 yards off the record of 665 yards set against MIT in 2006 and again in 2008.

Quinn is on pace for another record-breaking season, amassing 12 touchdowns and 1,483 rushing yards on 208 attempts through nine games. He is averaging career-highs in both yards per carry and yards per game with 7.1 and 164.8 respectively.

The Colonels jumped out to an early 7-0 lead when Michael Moriarty (Rockland, Mass.) capped off a seven-play, 67-yard drive with a nine-yard touchdown pass to Jaden Doman (Piscataway, N.J.) with 11:04 remaining in the first quarter. Curry found the endzone two more times in the first, with a 30-yard rushing touchdown by Danny Doris (Exeter, N.H.) and a 60-yard score from Quinn giving the Colonels a 21-6 lead.

Curry tacked on in the second quarter, starting with a 44-yard touchdown pass from Moriarty to Matthew Bowen (Mashpee, Mass.). Quinn was seemingly unstoppable, scoring on a 31-yard rush and later a career-high 79-yard touchdown run to give the Colonels a demanding 41-12 lead heading into halftime.

Quinn didn't slow down in the second half, scoring on one last long touchdown run, this time a 59-yard rush that gave Curry a 47-18 lead, enough to keep the Bison at bay as the home team made a late-game push with four consecutive scores to give the game its final score of 47-41.

Moriarty finished 15-for-23 with 222 passing yards and two touchdowns. Bowen was the leading receiver with three receptions for 88 yards while Colin Ridley (Peabody, Mass.) caught five passes for 67 yards. Omar Aboutoui (Methuen, Mass.) finished with five extra points. 

On the defensive side of the ball, Adem Kica (Oxford, Conn.) led all players with 14 tackles including 10 solo. Trey Noble (Wakefield, Mass.) forced the only Curry turnover with an interception, his first of the season. Curry also had four sacks compared to zero for Nichols with Michael Sims (Baltic, Conn.), Pete Jurovich III (Winthrop, Mass.), Lucas Leander (Rockland, Mass.), and Dominic Baez (Danvers, Mass.) each managing to bring the quarterback down behind the line of scrimmage.

Curry College closes out the regular season with a Senior Day matchup against #15 Endicott on Saturday, November 16th. Kick-off takes place at Walter M. Katz Field at noon.
