Men's Basketball Notches 66-65 Come-From-Behind Win Over Colby at Salem State Tournament

SALEM, Mass. – A pair of free throws from Sedale Jones with eight seconds remaining in regulation capped a furious comeback and gave Curry College a 66-65 win over Colby College on Day 2 of the Salem State Holiday Classic. The Colonels snapped a three-game losing skid and improved to 3-6. The Mules saw their losing streak reach five in falling to 3-7.
Curry never led in the contest until Jones sank the winning shots from the charity stripe. Colby held a 36-29 edge at halftime and built its lead to a game-high 12 points (62-50) with 5:24 remaining in regulation. From there, the Colonels outscored the Mules, 16-3. Brian Boyajian came off the bench to supply seven of those 16 points. Seven more came from Jones, including five from the free-throw line.
Jones went 7-of-16 from the floor and 9-of-13 from the line for a game-high 24 points. Lambros Papalambros added 14 points and six assists. Jones also had five assists and pulled down six boards, sharing team-high rebounding honors with John Durkin.
Colby also got a 24-point effort from Ben Foreman, while Eric Beaulieu grabbed a game-high seven rebounds. The Mules struggled from the line, particularly in the second half, when they connected on just five of 16 attempts (31%).
Curry resumes play with a conference match-up at Salve Regina on January 7. Colby’s next game is at Maine Maritime on January 3.
