Colonels Drop Road Contest at Gordon
Wenham, MA - Curry men's basketball dropped an 82–68 decision on the road at Gordon, despite a strong second-half effort and balanced contributions across the lineup. The Colonels battled throughout the afternoon but were unable to overcome Gordon's early momentum and efficiency on the glass.
The opening half saw Curry work to find an offensive rhythm as Gordon built a steady lead. The Fighting Scots used strong interior play to outscore Curry 35–27 before the break. Gordon capitalized on second-chance opportunities and controlled the tempo, while Curry stayed within striking distance.
Curry came out with renewed energy in the second half, scoring 41 points after halftime and showing improved execution on the offensive end. Tommy Mallinson paced the Colonels with a team-high 15 points and added seven assists, consistently setting up teammates and pushing the pace. Manny Hidalgo followed with 12 points and six rebounds, while Isaiah Andino also chipped in 12 points off the bench to provide a spark during key stretches.
Jake Bernardo anchored Curry on the boards, pulling down 10 rebounds to go along with six points, helping the Colonels compete physically in the paint. James Scali provided a boost from the perimeter with eight points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers, while JD Heneke added 10 points and finished a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line.
Despite Curry's improved offense in the second half, Gordon continued to answer at critical moments when the Colonels were trying to claw back. The Fighting Scots shot efficiently and controlled the rebounding battle, finishing with a 49–28 advantage on the glass. Gordon also converted consistently at the foul line, which helped maintain separation down the stretch as Curry looked to mount a comeback.
The Colonels would the game shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line, but the Fighting Scots 43.8% from deep was too much for Curry to overcome.
Up Next: CNE play will continue back home inside Katz Gymnaisum, as the Colonels gear up to face Endicott on Tuesday night.
