Hockey Takes Third Place at Cardinal Classic, Defeating New England College, 8-5
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – In a game packed with offense and penalties, the Curry College Colonels came out on top, defeating the New England College Pilgrims 8-5 in the third place game of the Cardinal Classic. Curry improves to 5-3-2 overall, while New England College falls to 2-5-1 on the season.
With just 22 seconds gone in the game, the Colonels got on the board first on George Isham second of the year from Ian DeLong. Ryan Barlock and Ryan Desroches each added a goal for Curry, stretching their lead to 3-0 after one period of play.
Ryan Warsofsky found the back of the net at 3:44 of the second period to give the Colonels a four-goal lead.
New England College jumped back into the game scoring four goals of their own, including two from Niko Uola, cutting the Curry lead to 5-4 after two periods.
The Colonels offense continued to pile it on in the third period, adding goals from Warsofsky, Payden Benning and Shane Geib.
Aaron Harvey and Matt Mule split time in the New England College net. Harvey recorded 12 saves, while Mule made 14 stops and suffered the loss. Travis Owens made 11 saves in two periods for Curry. Robert Dawson was credited with the win, recording three saves.
Curry's next game is away at Utica on January 7 for a 7:00 p.m. game start.
