Hockey Falls to Plattsburgh State 7-1 in First Round of Cardinal Classic
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (Dec. 31, 2010) – Patrick Jobb tallied three goals and an assist as the Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team cruised past Curry to a 7-1 win, advancing to the championship game of the Cardinal Classic. The Cardinals improve to 8-4-0, while the Colonels drop to 4-3-2 overall.
Jobb tallied the lone goal of the first period at 16:50 from Vick Schlueter. However, the floodgates opened in the second period as the Cardinals scored six goals. Jobb scored twice, including the game-winner, to complete his hat trick. Kyle Kudroch, Nick Jensen, Kyle VanDermale and Dylan Clarke also added goals for Plattsburgh.
Curry’s Jonathan Miller broke up the shutout at 12:05 of the second period with his first of the year from Brett Kaneshiro and George Isham.
Mike Grace added three assists for the Cardinals, while Eric Satim added two. With his first assist of the game, Satim reached a Cardinal milestone, recording his 100th career point.
Josh Leis recorded 24 saves in his seventh win for Plattsburgh. Travis Owens and Robert Dawson split time in the Curry net, stopping 20 and 16 shots, respectively.
Curry will face-off against New England College at 4 p.m. tomorrow in the third place game of the Cardinal Classic. The championship game will follow at 7 p.m., featuring Neumann and Plattsburgh State.
