Former Men's Ice Hockey Captain Ryan Warsofsky Named San Jose Sharks Head Coach
San Jose, CA - On Thursday the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League named former Curry Men's Ice Hockey captain, and assistant coach, Ryan Warsofsky their new head coach.
Warsofsky, a 2011 graduate from Marshfield, MA, was a two year captain, and played in 44 games for the Colonels after transferring from Sacred Heart. He scored 12 goals, and had 31 assists. After graduating, he returned to Curry as an Assistant Coach for the 2012-2013 season.
He then began his journey up the professional ranks, starting as an assistant coach with the South Carolina Stingrays, staying in that position from 2013 to 2016. He was then promoted to their head coach position for two seasons. Following the 2017-2018 season, he joined the Charlotte Checkers in 2018, and spent time as both an assistant coach and head coach until 2021 when he took the head coaching job with the Chicago Wolves. In his first season in Chicago he led the Wolves to an AHL best 50 wins, and won the 2022 Calder Cup. After nearly two years there, he took his first NHL job, an assistant position with the Sharks.
