Men's Hockey Earns #1 Overall Seed in NCAA Tournament
Milton, MA - After winning the CNE Championship on Saturday, the Curry Men's Hockey team now has its sights on a national championship, as they were awarded the #1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament on Monday.
With a 24-3-0 record on the season, the Colonels were a top 10 team in all the rankings throughout the season. A late season stretch of wins over other top 15 teams catapulted them up to the top spot in NPI, awarding the number one overall seed.
With the top seed the Colonels will have a bye in the opening round, along with #2 seed, and back-to-back national champions Hobart.
In their first game in the quarterfinals, the Colonels could see a familiar face, as they will take on the winner of #8 UNE and #9 Hamilton. That game will take place in Biddeford on Saturday, March 15th.
The Colonels are 1-2-0 all time against Hamilton, with the last matchup between the two teams coming in 2012. Against fellow CNE school UNE, the Colonels are 10-15-1. The Colonels won the season series 2-1, and have won five of the last six matchups against the Nor'easters.
The Colonels next game will take place at the Canton Ice House on Saturday, March 22nd, at 3pm.
