Canton, MA - The Curry Men's Hockey team snapped a four game winless streak on Saturday by defeating Suffolk 4-1. The Colonels end the regular season 16-8-1 overall, and 13-6-1 in CNE play. The Rams go into the playoffs 16-8-1 and 15-4-1. The win was coach Peter Roundy's 100th career win, joining Bill Stewart (1981-1987) and Rob Davies (1999-2012), and TJ Manastersky (2012-2021) as the only coaches in program history to hit the century mark.
The Colonels struck a little over five minutes into the game on a Killian Rowlee goal, and then doubled their lead eight minutes later when Mason Kesselring scored on a wide open net off a pass from Victor Daigneault. The Colonels led 2-0 headed into the first intermission.
Curry made it 3-0 in the second at the 6:27 mark, as Andrew Morton found the back of the net. Suffolk got their lone goal of the game less than three minutes later, and it was 3-1 after two periods. Suffolk seemed to be gaining momentum, and went on the power play early in the third. But Rowlee struck off nifty passes from Taurin Haddon-Harris and Nicolas Lariviere to score shorthanded. That would be the last goal of the game, as the Colonels won 4-1.
Curry was outshot 33-27, including 16-8 in the first period, but won 30 of the 57 faceoffs.
Thomas Heaney stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced.
Up Next - The Colonels will enter the CNE playoffs as the #4 seed, and will host Nichols on Wednesday at 6pm
