Milton, MA — Curry College men's lacrosse earned a hard-fought 10–9 victory over Thomas (ME) on Sunday afternoon at Walter M. Katz Field.
In a tightly contested game throughout, Curry used a strong second quarter to take control. After falling behind 4–1, the Colonels responded with a 5–1 run to close the half, highlighted by multiple goals from Donovan Mawhinney and Nicholas Cole to take a 6–5 lead into the break.
Thomas battled back in the third quarter to regain the advantage, but Curry stayed within striking distance. A man-up goal from Cole late in the third tied the game at 7–7 heading into the final frame.
The fourth quarter featured back-and-forth action, with Jed Cappuccino scoring twice to help keep Curry in front. After Thomas tied the game at 9–9 midway through the quarter, Cole delivered the decisive moment, scoring his third goal of the game with 1:43 remaining to give Curry a 10–9 lead.
Mawhinney (three goals, one assist), Cole (three goals, two assists), and Cappuccino (three goals, one assist) led a balanced offensive effort, combining for nine of the team's 10 goals.
Defensively, Niko DeCola made seven saves in net to secure the win, while Curry controlled key possessions late to hold off the Terriers. With the victory, Curry improves to 2–5 on the season.
