Milton, MA - The Curry Men's Soccer team took down Lesley on Sunday by a final score of 1-0, giving the Colonels their first win of the year. The Colonels are now 1-1, while the Lynx are 0-1. The Colonels now lead the all-time series 6-4-1, and have won the last four matches between the two schools.
Despite dominating possession in the first half, the Colonels were unable to find the back of the net. Their best chance came in the 33rd minute when Aiden Watts missed high on an open net. But he would redeem himself in the second half, scoring in the 64th minute off a pass from Matthew Drons. It was Watts's second goal of the season, and gave the freshman Drons his first career point. That goal would hold, and the Colonels would win 1-0.
The Colonels outshot the Lynx 20-11, and won the corner kick battle 10-6. Despite the close score, the Colonels controlled a majority of the game.
In net, Ryan McGourty stopped all three shots he faced, earning his first career shutout.
Up Next - The Colonels will look to make it a winning streak on Wednesday, when they host Dean at 7pm.
