BEVERLY, Mass. – The Curry College men's soccer team battled through a strong first half before falling 4–0 to Endicott College on Wednesday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium in Conference of New England (CNE) action.
The Colonels (3–12–2, 0–8–0 CNE) held the Gulls scoreless for the first 45 minutes thanks to a composed defensive effort and several key saves from goalkeeper Brendan Cunningham. However, Endicott (7–7–2, 5–4–0 CNE) found their stride after halftime, netting all four goals in the second period to pull away.
Endicott broke the deadlock early in the second half when Aidan Sheehan finished a pass from Conor Rooney in the 47th minute. Just over ten minutes later, Rooney doubled the lead with an unassisted goal to make it 2–0. The Gulls continued to apply pressure, extending their advantage in the 67th minute as Graham Butterworth converted a setup from Sheehan. Ethan Nunes capped the scoring in the 82nd minute with a goal of his own, securing the 4–0 victory for the hosts.
Curry managed nine shots on the afternoon, with Aiden Watts and Ryan Treacy each registering one of the team's two shots on goal. Midfielder Aiden Grafton and forward Chris Kourtelidis also contributed to the attacking effort, while the defensive line—anchored by Ryan Koster and Nathan Stoltz—worked hard to contain a relentless Endicott attack that produced 28 total shots.
Cunningham turned in a strong performance in net, making 11 saves—his second-highest total of the season—against one of the conference's top offensive units.
With the result, the Colonels will look to regroup as they prepare for a home match on Friday against University of New England. Kickoff is set for 6 PM under the lights at Walter M. Katz Field.
