Men's Volleyball Bested by Blazers
Chicopee, MA - The Curry Men's Volleyball team was defeated in three sets on Tuesday at Elms, as the Blazers bested the Colonels 25-15, 29-27, 25-15. The Colonels are now 2-3 on the season, while the Blazers are 5-2. The Colonels were without head coach Alex Adelman for this match, as he was stuck in Florida after a weekend recruiting trip due to the many flight cancellations caused by the recent weather.
The two teams were close in the first half of the first set, and sat tied at 11. But the Blazers started to score in bunches, and took the set 25-15. The second set remained close until the Colonels went on an 8-1 run to take a 17-12 lead. The Colonels were a point away from taking the set at 24-21, but four straight Elms points gave them momentum, and they'd use it to take the set 29-27. The third set was a similar story to the first, as the teams were tied at 11, and then the Blazers went on a run to take it 25-15.
Chris Milfort led the team with nine kills, the first time this season he did not have at least 10. Michael Swanigan had six, and then there were three Colonels with three kills in Milo Barry Young, Jayden Garcia, and Brock Beggs. Nyko Whitaker had 19 set assists, directing traffic for the Colonels. Libero Braden Alpert led the team with 15 digs, ahead of Milfort's eight.
Up Next - The Colonels will travel to Manhattanville on Friday for a 6pm match.
