Milton, MA - The Curry Men's Volleyball team split a tri-match on Saturday, beating Vermont State Johnson 3-0, and then falling to Elmira 3-0. The Colonels are now 10-10 on the season. Prior to the Vermont State Johnson match, the Colonels recognized their two seniors Brayden Maloney and Abdiel Ixlaj.
Match One vs Vermont State Johnson
The Colonels cruised to an easy 25-15, 25-20, 25-19 win over the Badgers, and improved to 1-2 in NEVC play. The Colonels were led by Brock Beggs' 11 kills, just ahead of Chris Milfort (9), Nicholas Watson (9), and Milo Barry Young (8). Nyko Whitaker flirted with a triple-double, posting 29 set assists, nine digs, and six kills. The match ended in a fitting manner, as senior Brayden Maloney put down a kill on the final point.
Match Two vs Elmira
Taking on Coach Alex Adelman's alma mater, the Colonels fell 25-21, 25-20, 25-21. Every set was close all the way through the end, with the Colonels having chances in each one. Milfort led the team this match with nine digs, ahead of Watson (7), and Beggs (6). Whitaker posted 19 assists, while Milfort led the team with seven digs.
Up Next - The Colonels will host another tri-match on Saturday, facing SUNY Poly and Dean, beginning at 1pm.
