Milton, MA - The Curry Men's Volleyball team fell to SUNY Poly in a NEVC match on Saturday in straight sets, losing 25-22, 25-18, 26-24. They then beat Dean in straight sets by a score of 25-22, 25-15, 25-19. The Colonels are now 11-11 on the season.
Match One vs SUNY Poly
Curry got out to an early 4-1 lead in the first set, but the Wildcats would tie things up at 11 and go on a 6-1 run to take control. Curry used a 5-0 run to tie things up at 19, but a 4-0 run to end the set gave the Wildcats the set win. The Wildcats then cruised to a second set win. The third set was back and forth, with both teams having success, but SUNY Poly took it 26-24 to take the win.
Chris Milfort was the offense for the Colonels, recording 17 of the Colonels' 36 kills. Nyko Whitaker set most of those up with 28 set assists. Milfort recorded a double-double with a team high 10 digs.
Match Two vs Dean
The Colonels got up early in the first, and while never grabbing a huge lead, were able to win the set easily. They then dominated the second, scoring in bunches, and winning it by 10. The Colonels used an 11-3 run in the middle of the set 21-14, and did not look back, taking it, and the match.
It was the usual suspects for the Colonels, as Chris Milfort led them with 14 kills, and Nyko Whitaker had 33 set assists. It was libero Braden Alpert leading the team with 11 digs, one more than Brock Beggs. Beggs was also second on the team with seven kills.
