Softball Takes Both Ends of a Doubleheader at TCCC Rival Gordon
WENHAM, Mass. - In a conference match-up with the Colonels of Curry College today, the Fighting Scots dropped game one 14-2 and game two 7-5 in eight innings. Curry improves to 18-19 overall and 12-9 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC). Gordon fell to 12-21 overall, 7-15 in league play.
GAME ONE

In the opener, the Scots found themselves down early after the visiting Colonels drove in a pair of runs to lead off in the top of the first. Though Gordon would get one back in the bottom of the second and third, Curry brought in one each in the top of the third and fourth innings to maintain the 4-2 lead. After a scoreless fifth, Curry exploded offensively for five runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to widen the gap and secure the eventual 14-2 win.
Amanda Felzmann scored four times for the Colonels, going 1-for-1 and drawing four walks off pitcher Hannah Lawrence. Samantha Scanlon drove in four runs, and Stacey Norton was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Janelle Mayo picked up the win to improve to 7-8 on the season.

In the nightcap, after a back-and-forth effort by both teams which saw several lead changes through the regulation seven innings, it was Curry that came out on top in the end, crossing home twice in the top of the eighth to take the 7-5 lead and win. Megan Flaherty brought home one of the runs with an RBI fielder's choice. The second run came home on an RBI groundout by Kaitlyn Maderios.
Six different Colonels drove in one run apiece, while Taryn Vigeant had a team-best three hits in five at-bats. Chelsey Munsey earned the win, evening her season record at 4-4.
Curry next plays on April 26, traveling to Roger Williams in a single make-up game at 4:00 p.m. Gordon returns to TCCC play on Tuesday as well, traveling to Dudley, Mass. to face Nichols College at 3:00 p.m.
