Buzzards Bay, MA - The Curry Softball team improved to 17-19 on the season, sweeping Mass. Maritime on Wednesday. Mass. Maritime is now 18-18.
Game One
The Colonels would score in the first inning on a Gracie Keyes single, and that would be all they needed. Neither team would score again, despite combining for 15 total hits. Keyes was one of two players to have multiple hits for the Colonels, along with Ana Tsonis.
The Colonels used three pitchers to shut down their opponents. Morgan Barmash started, and was releived by Isabella Monsanto, each of which went three scoreless innings. Caitlyn Wood then earned a save by pitching the last inning.
Game Two
The second game was much more controlled by the Colonels, as they dominated to a 9-0 win. They scored twice in the second, four times in the fourth, once in the fifth, and twice in the sixth, leading to a run rule victory.
While the offense did it's job, the story in this game was the pitching of Jillian Rogers. She pitched all six innings, allowing no hits, and striking out eight batters. She ended this game in style, striking out the final four batters she faced. It marks the second time in her career she has pitched a complete game no-hitter, the other happening on March 16th, 2016. Later that season she also was part of a combined no-hitter.
Up Next - The Colonels will end their season with a doubleheader against Endicott on Saturday. Prior to the games they will recognize their seniors.
