Softball Splits With Regis
Team Stats
Game 1
Regis (Mass.)
Curry
Milton, MA - The Curry softball team split their doubleheader on Friday with Regis, losing game one 2-1 in eight innings, and then winning game two 5-2. The Colonels are now 8-11 on the season, while the Pride are 3-15.
Game One
In a low scoring game, the Colonels struck first in the first inning, scoring on a wild pitch. But that proved to be their only run of the game. Regis tied things up in the fifth on a ground out. The game would then go to extra innings, where the Colonels had been 4-0 on the season. While the Pride were able to capitalize on having a runner start on second, the Colonels were not, and the Pride won 2-1.
The Colonels had four hits in the game, with two coming off the bat of Ciara McMenamin. She also reached base a third time via a walk. Kassidy Lobb was the unlucky losing pitcher for the Colonels, as she pitched eight innings, allowing seven hits and two runs, neither of which were earned. She struck out two batters.
Game Two
Curry once again scored in the bottom of the first, this time scoring twice. One run came in on a bases loaded walk by Isabella Monsanto, and the other on a wild pitch. But Regis responded immediately with two runs of their own in the second. It wasn't until the fifth when Lindsay DesRoberts gave the Colonels the lead again with an RBI single up the middle. The Colonels grabbed some insurance runs in the sixth on a two run Ana Tsonis home run to left field.
Both teams had six hits in the game, but a big difference was that the Colonels were patient at the plate, working seven walks compared to just two for Regis. All six of the Curry hits came from different hitters. In addition to her homerun, Tsonis also pitched a complete game in the circle for the Colonels, allowing just six hits and two earned runs in seven innings. She struck out one batter.
Up Next - The Colonels will host Nichols on Saturday at 12pm.
