Milton, MA - In weather that only got colder and windier as the day went on, the Curry softball team fell in both games against Nichols on Saturday, dropping game one 11-3, and game two 8-0. The Colonels are now 8-13 on the season and 2-5 in CNE play. The Bison are 10-12 and 5-3.
Game One
Nichols got out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first, and never looked back, ultimately winning 11-3. The Colonels scored a run in the first on an Ana Tsonis single, and then two runs on an error in the sixth. Lindsay DesRoberts was the lone Colonel to record multiple base hits. All eight of the Colonels hits in the game were singles
Ultimately, the Colonels were done in by their play in the field, committing seven errors, which led to five unearned runs.
Morgan Barmash was handed the loss in the circle, allowing 12 hits and five earned runs in 5.2 innings pitched. She struck out three.
Game Two
The Colonels did not get a hit until the fifth inning, and by that point the Bison already led 5-0. They would tack on three in the seventh to win 7-0. The Colonels would eventually end with three hits in the game, singles by Kailey Collins-Fiore, Cailene Dupras, and Olivia Roy.
Kassidy Lobb pitched six innings, allowing nine hits and six earned runs, striking out three batters.
Up Next - The Colonels will play the rare single game on Tuesday against Roger Williams, hosting the game at 3pm.
