Game 2
Western New Eng.
Milton, MA - The Curry softball team split their doubleheader with the CNE leading Western New England Golden Bears on Sunday, losing game one 8-0, and then winning game two 4-1. The Colonels are now 9-16 on the season and 3-8 in CNE play. The Golden Bears are now 14-11 and 8-2.
Game One
After two scoreless innings, the Golden Bears scored in each of the next three innings, going up 6-0. They then added two more in the seventh to win 8-0. The Colonels had three hits in the game, all singles by Kailey Collins Fiore, Morgan Barmash, and Grace Habib.
Barmash dropped to 1-4 in the circle on the year, starting and going 4.2 innings. She allowed six hits and four earned runs.
Game Two
Just like the first game, after two scoreless innings the Golden Bears opened the scoring in the third, this time scoring just one run. Unlike the first game, this time the Colonels had an answer, and it was a big one. Renee Gonneville hit just her second career home run in the bottom half of the first, her first in 78 games dating back to her freshman year. The Colonels then added two more in the sixth. The first came on a very long Lindsay DesRoberts single. The ball hit the yellow plastic on top of the fence in left field, and stayed in the ball park, likely missing a HR by an inch. The Colonels then added to their 3-1 lead on a wild pitch, going up 4-1. That is how the game would end, as the Colonels held WNE scoreless in the seventh.
The Colonels had eight hits, with three coming off the bat of Skylar Colburn.
Kassidy Lobb picked up her third win of the season, pitching a complete game and allowing just eight hits and a lone earned run.
Up Next - The Colonels will host Roger Williams on Tuesday for one game at 3pm.
