Women's Basketball Falls to Gulls 60-45
Milton, MA - Curry women's basketball gave the Gulls a battle inside Katz Gymnasium, but came up short in a 60–45 setback against Endicott. The Colonels showed early defensive intensity and stayed competitive throughout the opening quarter, but a decisive stretch by the Gulls in the middle of the game proved to be the difference.
Curry opened the contest with strong energy on both ends of the floor, edging Endicott 12–10 after the first quarter. The Colonels limited clean looks and controlled the defensive glass early. Libby Harris also gave the Colonels some instant offense off the bench as she notched six of Curry's 12 first quarter points in just four minutes.
Endicott responded in the second quarter, tightening defensively and holding Curry to six points in the period. The Gulls used efficient shooting and ball movement to build a 27–18 halftime advantage. Tricia Wladkowski was particularly effective in the paint, securing a game-high nine boards and also putting in a game-high 16 points.
The Colonels showed resilience coming out of the break, matching Endicott for most of the third quarter but the Gulls would hold a 46-33 lead going into the fourth. Curry scored 15 points in the frame, highlighted by Ella Palanza, who got it going and put in seven of her 10 points in the period.
Despite Curry's late pushes, Endicott maintained control and wouldn't allow the Colonels any closer than two possessions, resulting in the a 60-45 defeat for Curry.
Palanza led the way with a team-high 10 points and nine rebounds on the evening. Lauren Dunn added eight points and three assists, while Sophie Hilbrunner chipped in six points and four rebounds. Off the bench, Harris had six points, while Lauren Morse added five of her own.
