Milton, MA - The Curry Women's Hockey team fell to Suffolk in a shootout on Saturday, after finishing overtime tied at two. The Colonels are now 3-0-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in CNE play. The Rams are now 0-1-1 on the season.
Suffolk wasted no time in this one, scoring just 30 second into the game. They would hold on to that lead until late in the period when Darby Marshall scored a power play goal. The score would remain 1-1 until there were just seconds remaining in the second period, as the Colonels scored another PP goal, this time from Morgan Slough. The Colonels would hold that lead until the Rams tied it up with just six minutes left in the game. Neither team could grab a game winner, so the game went to OT. Each team had chances in the extra period, including a power play for each team, but neither would find the back of the net. Even the shootout took a while to decide a winner, as it took six rounds for the Rams to take it home.
The Colonels outshot the Rams 45-36, and won the faceoff battle 40-25. But ultimately the Colonels were limited by spending 21 minutes on the penalty kill, as they committed nine penalties, and both goals allowed came on the PP.
Coriann Hoag was once again solid in net, as she stopped 34 of 36 shots.
Up Next - The Colonels will travel to UNE next Friday for a 4pm game.
