Worcester, MA - The Curry Women's Hockey team defeated the Worcester State Lancers on Friday 3-2, moving to 7-4-1 on the season, while the Lancers are now 6-8-0. The Colonels are now 2-6 all time against WSU, and this marked their first victory on the road against the Lancers in five tries.
The Colonels started fast, scoring twice in the first five minutes. First it was Bella Mardesich three and a half minutes in. Next was Alaina Holmes five minutes in. It stayed 2-0 until midway through the second period when Morgan Slough extended the Colonels lead to 3-0.
Worcester State would inch closer in the third scoring twice, but it was not enough, as the Colonels won 3-2.
The Colonels outshot the Lancers 39-24, and won the faceoff battle 42-19.
Coriann Hoag made 22 saves in net for the Colonels.
