Canton, MA - The Curry Women's Hockey team took down Nichols for the second straight day, beating them 5-4 in OT. The Colonels are now 9-5-1 on the season and 5-3-1 in CNE play. The Bison are now 4-12-0 and 1-10-0.
Nichols scored about 10 minutes into the game, but the Colonels responded quickly with a shorthanded goal from Rian Faery two minutes later. They then took a 2-1 lead with two minutes left in the period on a Darby Marshall goal assisted by Kayley Hansen and Tommi Nash.
Three minutes into the second quarter Nichols tied things up, but Curry once again took the lead, this time on a Bella Mardesich unassisted goal. But once again the Bison responded, this time right before the end of the second period.
The two team traded a pair of goals in the third, with the Colonels' goal coming from Margot Oxman. But the Bison tied it up at four with just over three minutes remaining, sending the game into overtime. But OT did not last long, as Morgan Slough won the opening faceoff, dished it off to Mardesich who buried the game winner less than 10 seconds into the period.
The Colonels outshot the Bison 30-23, and won 38 of the 53 faceoffs.
Coriann Hoag stopped 19 of the 23 shots she faced.
Up Next - The Colonels will travel to Endicott on Friday for a rematch of last year's CNE championship game. That game will start at 6pm.
