Keene, MA - The Curry Women's Hockey team defeated Keene State on Saturday by a final score of 2-1, improving to 10-9-2 on the season. The Owls are now 8-13-0.
Neither team scored in the first period, and it wasn't until after the midway point of the second period that the Colonels struck first. Ava Doyle put the Colonels up 1-0, being assisted by Eleanor Smiley Rowe and Kayley Hansen. The assist gave Rowe Smiley her first career point. But the leas would last just over six minutes, as the Owls tied things up with just a minute left in the period on a power play goal.
The Colonels would score the lone goal of the third, the game winner, five minutes into the period off the stick of Kylie Harrison.
The Colonels outshot the Owls 37 to 19, but lost the faceoff battle 32 to 22.
Goalie Sarah Kerr stopped 18 of the 19 shots she faced.
Up Next - The Colonels will finish their season with four CNE games, starting with a game against WNE at 7pm on Friday at the Ice House.
