Koffman Posts Career-High 13 Points as Women's Lacrosse Downs Lasell College, 20-12
MILTON, Mass.- Senior Jessie Koffman (Andover, MA) scored nine goals and dished out four assists to help lead Curry to a 20-12 win over visiting Lasell College. With the win, the Colonels improve to 2-0 overall. The Lasers fall to 0-2 overall.
Koffman led the team with 13 total points, a career-high. Junior Lauren Glavin (Billerica, MA) and sophomore Ana Bottary (Hull, MA) each had seven points on five goals and two assists. Freshman Caity Tobyne (Hamilton, MA) scored her first collegiate goal and also had one assist.
Freshman Mel Brickey (Chelmsford, MA) led with a team-high five caused turnovers including four draw controls and three groundballs. Freshman Kaitlin Cloutier (Montpelier, VT) also had a solid night on defense winning one draw control, causing three turnovers and scooping up three ground balls.
Curry, which held a 20-12 advantage in draw controls, also scooped up 16 groundballs to Lasell’s eight.
Lasell played a strong offensive game scoring just four goals in the first half but eight in the second. Freshman Britney Wuorio (Bolton, MA) led her team with five goals. Freshman Neila Kudla (Groton, MA) scored three goals and added an assist, sophomore Ashley Slattery (Weymouth, MA) had two goals and Chelsea Caren (Redding, CT) and Rebecca Stanton (Agawam, MA) each chipped in for one. Freshman Jen Lemoine (Trumble, CT) contributed two assists.
Senior goalie Maria Lynch (Billerica, MA), finished with nine saves in net for her second win of the season. In net for Lasell was senior Kristin Cordere (Monson, MA) who made 18 saves for the loss.
The Colonels travel to West Palm Beach, Florida tomorrow, March 11. Their first game is on Monday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. against Mount Saint Vincent. Lasell travels to Wellesley on March 12 for a 12:00 p.m. start.
