MILTON, Mass. – Curry College defeated visiting Manhattanville 19-4, in women's lacrosse action on Saturday night in Milton, Mass.  With the win, the Colonels even out their overall record to 3-3, while the Valiants fell to 0-7.

The Colonels were led by senior Mel Brickey (Chelmsford, Mass.) who finished with a season-high eight points on three goals and five assists.  Brickey also won six draw controls and caused five turnovers.

The Valiants were led by senior Brooke Marcimo (Shrewsbury, Mass.) who netted all of her team's four goals.  She also had team-best three draws controls.  Freshman Sarah Dalsey (Ocean City, N.J.) finished the night with three points on three assists

Curry got scores from eight other players in the team's second 19 goal effort of the season.  Freshman Alli Schoff (Berwick, Maine) earned a collegiate-high five points netting three goals and chipping in with three assists.  Schoff also caused four turnovers. The Colonels earned three points from four different players. Senior Haley Carey (New Milford, Conn.) had three tallies while senior Kaitlin Cloutier (Montpelier, Vt.) and freshman Malorie Knowlton (Norfolk, Mass.) finished with two goals and an assist and sophomore Emma Bolton (Mahwah, N.J.) scored a goal and helped on two. Senior Deanna Monfredo (West Islip, N.Y.) and freshman Kelly Parker (Branford, Conn.) each had two scores and senior Caity Tobyne (Hamilton, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for Curry netting her first on the season.

The Colonels tallied the first three goals of the opening stanza to take an early 3-0 lead.  Monfredo, Cloutier and Carey earned their first points on the night by netting unassisted markers. Marcimo scored her first with 17:46 showing on the clock to cut Curry's lead down to two.  That would be the closest Manhattanville would get however as the Colonels went on to score six more and the Valiants just two for a 9-3 half-time score.  Cloutier and Marcimo exchanged tallies before Curry would go on a five-goal run in a span of six minutes.  During the run, Schoff netted two, Carey another and Bolton and Brickey earned their first.  Marcimo had the last point of the half with just over two minutes remaining.

The Colonels outscored the Valiants 10-1 over the final 30 minutes of play.  Manhattanville was first to strike 4:20 into the final frame but struggled to find the back of the net for the remainder of the half.  Curry netted 10 unanswered goals to finish the night with 19.  Eight of the 10 tallies were off assists with five coming off the stick of Brickey.  Brickey helped on two of Knowlton's markers and one on each of Monfredo, Tobyne and Schoffs. She also put away two of her own with Schoff and Cloutier earning assists. Carey's third and final point came from a free position shot.  Parker had an unassisted tally and earned her second off a pass from Bolton.

Curry outshot Manhattanville, 51-10.  On draw, the Colonels won 19 and the Valiants eight.  They also scooped up 27 groundballs.

Junior Christina Wallis (Peabody, Mass.) earned the win in net making four saves in 44:30 minutes.  Sophomore Kelton Vuilleumier (Duxbury, Mass.) faced just one shot in the final 15:30 minutes.  For Manhattanville, junior Kirsten Shaughnessy (Le Center, Minn.) made 13 saves in 60 minutes.

Curry will travel to Salem State on Monday, March 24 in a 7:00 p.m. game start.  Manhattanville will host SUNY Old Westbury on Thursday, March 27 for a 4:00 p.m. start.
