EAST BOSTON, Mass. – The Curry College women's soccer team dropped a road contest to Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon, falling 6-0 in a Conference of New England (CNE) matchup at James A. Sartori Stadium. With the result, the Colonels move to 2-5-2 overall (0-2-1 CNE), while the Rams improve to 6-1-2 (2-1-0 CNE).
Suffolk applied pressure from the opening whistle and broke through in the 24th minute. Isa Peraza slotted home the game's first goal off a setup from Lily Goldmann to put the Rams in front. Just before halftime, Suffolk doubled its advantage as Tatum Flynn found the back of the net, giving the hosts a 2-0 lead at the break.
The Rams pulled away in the second half, scoring four times over the final 30 minutes. Molly Knight extended the advantage in the 62nd minute, finishing off a combination play assisted by Sophia Vazquez and Avery Porter. Suffolk's attack continued to roll as Daniela Petronio tallied in the 75th minute, Goldmann added one of her own in the 81st, and Ella Marmash capped the scoring in the 88th minute.
Curry worked hard to generate offense against Suffolk's organized back line but managed just two shots on the day, both coming in the second half. Nicole Hudson and Laney Phillips each put efforts on goal, but Suffolk goalkeeper Arden Rose was equal to the task, making two saves to preserve the clean sheet.
In net for the Colonels, Senior Lexi Smardon tallied three saves, while first-year Sarah Stairs contributed one in her late appearance.
The Colonels will be back in action on Wednesday, October 1st, hosting the Lynx of Lesley University at 7 PM.
