Milton, MA - The Curry Women's Soccer team fell to UNE on Saturday 2-0, dropping the Colonels to 4-8-5 on the season, and 1-5-3 in CNE play. The Nor'easters are now 11-4-3 and 5-2-2.
The visiting UNE team controlled the game, dominating possession. They outshot the Colonels 19-1 in the first half But Lexi Smardon would stop all 13 shots on goal, keeping the Colonels even headed into halftime.
But the Nor'easters would eventually score, scoring twice in a four minute period 20 minutes into the second half. Those two goals would be all they needed, as they beat the Colonels 2-0.
For the game, the Nor'easters outshot the Colonels 33-5, and put 24 shots on goal to just two from Curry. The Nor'easters also held an 11-1 edge on corner kicks.
Lindsey Barfield and Jovi Goldstein each had a shot on goal for the Colonels.
Smardon kept the Colonels in the game, making 21 saves. That ties Liz Middleton (9/26/1998) and Maggie Chamberlain (10/24/2018) for the fourth most saves in a game in program history. It is also the second most in the NCAA Era, trailing only Samantha Hardy, who made 23 on 9/17/2011.
