Curry Track & Field Shows Progress at Bridgewater State Outdoor Meet
The Curry University men's and women's track & field teams continued their outdoor seasons on Thursday afternoon at the Bridgewater State Outdoor Meet, competing against Bridgewater State, UMass Dartmouth, Wentworth, Regis, and Framingham State at Swenson Athletic Complex. Curry athletes delivered several strong individual efforts and highlighted the day with a relay victory on the women's side.
Women's Highlights
The Curry women were led by a first‑place finish in the 4x400 meter relay, as the quartet of Morgan Slough, Sam Santos, Laraeler Rossow, and Nevaeh Scribner won the event with a time of 5:02.40, closing the meet on a high note.
In the 400 meters, Nevaeh Scribner turned in a solid performance, crossing the line in 1:05.49, while Samantha Santos (1:09.38) and Laraeler Rossow (1:11.97) added valuable race experience.
Distance runner Sarah Kerr paced Curry in the 800 meters, posting a time of 2:49.38, and Rossow followed with a strong run in the 1500 meters, finishing in 5:58.00. Curry's best finish on the oval came from Mackenzie Husson, who placed second in the 5000 meters with a time of 20:11.36.
In the field events, Morgan Slough had an impressive day, placing fourth in the shot put with a throw of 10.16 meters and finishing fifth in the discus at 29.53 meters. Nevaeh Scribner contributed in the horizontal jumps, placing seventh in the long jump (4.38m) and tied for seventh in the triple jump (9.64m). Braylyn Elrod added depth with a fifth‑place finish in the high jump (1.32m) and top‑10 performances in both the long jump and triple jump.
Men's Highlights
On the men's side, Curry athletes showed depth across sprints, distance, and field events. Jackson Owen led Curry in the 100 meters (12.73), while Brandon Dunn (12.83) and Abu Koroma (12.99) also competed in the dash.
In the 400 meters, Michael Desir ran a season‑best 59.15, and Linus Kiser took on the 400 hurdles, finishing in 1:04.85.
Distance standout Alex Nason delivered one of the top performances of the day for Curry, earning second place in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:53.32. Golden Braden rounded out Curry's distance contingent with a run of 6:12.52 in the 1500 meters.
Curry was well represented in the jumps, as Michael Desir placed seventh in the long jump (5.88m), while Eli Arriaga recorded an eighth‑place finish in the high jump (1.75m) and sixth in the triple jump (11.88m).
In the throws, Kevin Dang led Curry in the shot put (11.54m) and discus (27.32m). Edgardo Torres posted a strong showing in the javelin, finishing sixth overall with a throw of 42.81 meters, while also contributing in both the shot put and discus.
