Kiana Hernandez Named Curry Women's Volleyball Head Coach
Milton, MA - Kiana Hernandez was named the head coach of the Curry Women's Volleyball team this week, just one year after joining the Colonels prior to the 2025 season as an assistant coach. She has over a decade of volleyball coaching experience and 14+ years of playing experience. She is a graduate of Yale College's Class of 2018, where she played club volleyball as an outside hitter and libero and majored in Ethnicity, Race, and Migration before beginning a teaching career in the boarding school sphere.
"We couldn't be more excited to welcome Kiana as the new leader of our women's volleyball program," said Athletic Director Vinnie Eruzione. "With a decade of coaching experience and a deep understanding of our players and culture, she steps into this role ready to make an immediate impact. Her love for the game and her dedication to helping student‑athletes grow academically, athletically, and personally make her a truly special fit. Our team will thrive under her guidance."
In her time as a teacher, Kiana balanced her teaching and coaching responsibilities alongside directing and coaching at New Haven Juniors. Originally an assistant coach with the club, upon graduating college, Kiana became both the 18U head coach and the club director, where she oversaw the program's expansion from one girls team to four teams – including the start of the club's boys program. Her passion for the program stemmed from her own love for the game and her background, as she grew up in New Haven, CT and sought to help provide an affordable travel volleyball experience. Now across state lines in MA, her love for the game brought her to Curry, where she continues to support student-athletes in their own volleyball journeys.
"I am grateful for the honor of serving as the next head coach for Curry Women's Volleyball," said Hernandez. "These players and this program have so much heart and energy to give, and I am excited for the opportunity to continue pushing them toward their goals. I would like to thank Vinnie Eruzione, the Curry College Athletics department, and the athletes themselves for their trust in me."
Hernandez and the Colonels will kick off their 2026 season with a home tri-match on Friday, September 4th, as they host Fisher and Canton.
