Men's Basketball Completes Community Service Project at Canton Road Race
CANTON, Mass. – On Sunday, September 30, the Curry College men's basketball program took part in the 14th annual Canton Road Race. Eleven men's basketball student-athletes took part in the event, volunteering to run the water stations, direct and cheer on runners, as well as aiding in set up and clean up for the event.
Since its inception in 2004, the Canton Road Race has raised over $300,000 for the Canton Association of Business and Industry Charitable Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) organization working to make Canton a better community for everyone. CABI distributes 100% of race proceeds to support local charities, civic organizations, and scholarships. Recipients have included the Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children, the Canton Police and Fire Departments, and the Canton Food Pantry. Proceeds also fund scholarships for students at Canton High School and Blue Hills Regional Technical School, who are actively involved in the community.
"The players really enjoyed taking part in an event that has a great cause attached to it," said Colonels' head men's basketball coach Joe Busacca. "We are looking forward to being a part of this event for years to come."
