Canton, MA - The Curry Men's Hockey team beat Western New England 3-1 on Friday, moving to 12-5-0 on the season and 9-3-0 in CNE play. The Golden Bears are now 4-13-0 and 2-10-0.
The Colonels struck first about five minutes into the game, as Manny Cabral scored off of assists from Gage Dill and Mason Kesselring. The 1-0 lead would last about 10 minutes before the Golden Bears evened things up with a goal of their own. But less than two minutes later it was Cabral again, this time from Dill and Jesse Galassi. With his second assist, Dill became the 25th player in program history to record 100 career points, and the first since 2012, a season that saw three players cross the century mark.
After a scoreless second period, the Colonels got an insurance goal four minutes into the third, as Nicolas Lariviere scored off assists from Tyler Isherwood and Jett Otwell.
The Colonels completely controlled the game, outshooting the Golden Bears 68-12, including a 31-2 difference in the first period. The 68 shots on goal are the third most in program history, behind a 76 SOG game in 2006, and a 69 SOG game in 2003. Of the 20 top SOG games in program history, this is only the second to come since 2013, joining a 62 SOG game in 2020.
Seeing limited action on his end of the ice, goalie Thomas Heaney stopped 11 of the 12 shots he faced.
The Colonels won 44 of the 71 faceoffs, led by a 13-15 performance from Taurin Haddon-Harris
Up Next - The Colonels will look to go for the weekend sweep of the Golden Bears on Saturday when they travel to take on WNE at 7:30pm.
