MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's soccer team fell by a score of 6-0 to Endicott College in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match. With the win, the gulls improve to 6-3-1 overall with a 2-0-1 mark in league play. The Colonels slip to 2-9-1 on the year with a 0-3-0 CCC record.
The guests got to work early and often in this one, as Arian Pilja (Arlington, Mass.) opened the scoring with a fourth minute tally to give the Gulls a 1-0 edge. Alex Vuksta (Hudson, Ohio) earned the assist on the play. Less than 15 minutes later, Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio) doubled the lead by converting a penalty kick. Couchot notched his second score of the day later in the half off an assist from Max Robbins (Longmeadow, Mass.).
Entering the second half with a 3-0 lead, the Gulls were hungry for more. In the 54th minute, Pilja took a helper from Steven Avery (Rotterdam, N.Y.) past Curry keeper Jan Bacerra (Chappaqua, N.Y.), giving the Gulls a 4-0 lead. 56 seconds later, Couchot grabbed a hat trick thanks to an assist from Brandon Haughton (Hartford, Conn.). Endicott wrapped up the day's scoring with a 73rd minute goal from William Poreda (Duxbury, Mass.), his third of the year. Connor Ross (Atkinson, N.H.) recorded an assist on the score.
Ryan Brady (South Weymouth, Mass.), Claudio Orsini (Watertown, Conn.), and Jonathan Sarkis (East Walpole, Mass.) took one shot each, the only three Colonel shots, but with no shots on goal, Zach Regulbuto (Somers, Conn., 6-3-1) secured a shutout despite recording zero saves. Couchot powered his hat trick with a match-high five shots on goal. In his second collegiate start, Bacerra (0-1-1) collected seven saves for Curry.
The Colonels will stay home to take on UMass Boston on Wednesday, October 9. The non-conference action is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. The Gulls will return to action on Tuesday, October 8, as they host the Plymouth State Panthers at 4:00 p.m.
