Milton, MA - The Curry Women's Lacrosse team beat Gordon on Wednesday 23-14, improving to 4-8 on the season, and 1-5 in CNE play. The Fighting Scots are now 0-11 and 0-7.
Curry had a blazing hot first quarter, scoring eight goals. Sarah Kelly scored the first three in six minutes, and then Phoebe Sartory and Ella Palanza each had a pair. The other goal came from Nicole Michael. The Colonels led 8-3 after the first period. They then had four different goal scorers in the second, as Michael, Palanza, Grace Grosso, and Samantha Sprissler all found the back of the net, and the Colonels led 12-7 at halftime.
Another dominant period in the third saw the Colonels score seven goals. Four of those came from Sprissler, with Palanza, Grosso, and Sartory each adding one more. The Colonels wrapped things up in the fourth with four more goals, one each from Michael, Grosso, Palanza, and Sydney Upham.
The Colonels caused 14 turnovers, led by Michael's four and Sprissler's three. Six different players recorded a hat trick for the Colonels, with Sarah Kelly, Samantha Sprissler, Phoebe Sartory, Grace Grosso, Ella Palanza, and Nicole Michael all scoring at least three goals. Sprissler and Palanza each had five, and Palanza added six assists. The six assists are tied for the 10th most in a single game in program history, and her 11 points in the game are tied for 11th
Alexa Puopolo made nine saves in net for the Colonels.
