Pawtucket, RI - The Curry Men's Hockey team was upset by JWU on Saturday 5-3, as the Wildcats took down the nationally ranked Colonels. Curry is now 11-5-0 on the season, and 8-3-0 in CNE play. The Wildcats are now 6-7-1 and 4-5-0.
Johnson & Wales got off to a quick start, scoring a little over a minute into the game. But Jett Otwell answered for the Colonels just two minutes later. The wildcats then scored twice in the second to take a 3-1 lead. Unlike Friday's game where the Colonels came back to win after falling behind by two, the Wildcats were able to hold on. But the Colonels did inch closer with an Andrew Morton goal with seven minutes remaining. But two more Wildcat goals solidified the win for JWU. The Colonels did get a goal from Shane Carr with 20 seconds remaining in the game, but it was too little, too late.
The Colonels attempted 112 shots, to just 29 from JWU, and 52 to 18 in shots on goal. They also won 43 of the 75 faceoffs. But ultimately the Colonels were unable to capitalize on their chances, as they went 0-6 on the power play.
Cam Smith stopped 13 of the 17 shots he faced.
Up Next - The Colonels will look to bounce back next Friday when they host Western New England at 7pm for Hockey Fights Cancer Night.
