West Springfield, MA - The Curry Men's Hockey team took down Western New England on Saturday 4-2, moving to 13-5-0 on the season, and 10-3-0 in CNE play. The Golden Bears are now 4-14-0 and 2-11-0.
The Colonels were put back on their heels just four minutes into the first period, as the Golden Bears grabbed a 1-0 lead. But the Colonels were able to regain composure, and tie things up 15 minutes in, as Killian Rowlee scored on assists by Nicolas Lariviere and Victor Daigneault. Then with less than a minute left in the period, Gage Dill put the Colonels up with a goal from Mason Kesselring and Manny Cabral.
The Colonels scored the lone goal of the second period as Taurin Haddon-Harris fired home the puck four minutes into the period. The Golden Bears would get back within one with eight minutes remaining in the game, but Cabral put home an empty net goal with just under a minute remaining in the game, giving the Colonels the 4-2 win.
A day after outshooting the Golden Bears 68-12, the Colonels once again doubled up their opponents in shots, 54-25. They also won 40 of 67 faceoffs.
Cam Smith stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced.
